Entry Requirements

Our typical entry level would be 80 points with a minimum of 60 from either one or more A2/ Advanced GCEs or VCEs, a VCE double award or equivalent qualification. This includes any stand alone AS Levels, Key Skills at Level 2 and BTEC Level 3.

A satisfactory reference will be required as part of our selection process.

Applicants will be invited to attend a briefing session in which they will be asked to complete a short English competency test.

How Is The Course Delivered

This exciting hands-on Foundation Degree equips you with the broad range of technical and research skills that you will need to work in Broadcast Journalism.  You will gain digital production skills using industry-standard edit facilities and a well equipped TV and radio studio.  You will benefit from a strong practical emphasis on production, including tasks such as producing news stories, as well as a professional placement with a local media centre or business. 

How Will I Be Assessed

Assessment is varied and includes opportunites for self and peer assessment as well as more traditional work based learning.

What Can I Do After The Course

On successful completion of this course you have the option of progressing onto a third year top-up BA (Hons) in Broadcasting and Journalism which is studied full or part-time at the University. Previous graduates have gone on to work in radio newsrooms and production offices (BBC and commercial radio), TV production companies and local media enterprises. Some have gone on to set up their own media businesses.
