Step Up Professional Courses

What are Step Up courses?

Our ‘Step Up’ courses are modules specially selected from our HNCs, HNDs and foundation degrees.  Each module has been built around industry input and need. These are courses that employers have asked for and we have created.  ‘Step Up’ courses give you the option to build your own ‘pay as you go’ foundation degree or HND.

They give you the flexibility to study at a higher level, without the expense and long term commitment associated with traditional  higher education courses.  Each module can be studied separately to fit around your working day and payment options mean that you can spread the cost over a four month period.

Qualifications & Experience

To enrol on a ‘Step Up’ course you will normally be working at Level 3 in your vocational area (A-Levels, BTEC Level 3 etc.) or have the equivalent work experience.  Higher Level Skills are about valuing people’s work and life experience, as well as their qualifications.

If you are unsure whether you are ready for Higher Level skills, contact the named course tutor. They will be happy to answer your questions, discuss your experiences and make sure that you are ‘stepping up’ in the right direction.

HNC & HND Courses

HNC (Higher National Certificates) & HND (Higher National Diplomas) are work related (vocational) Higher Education qualifications.

While bachelors degrees tend to focus on gaining knowledge, HNCs and HNDs are designed to give you the skills to put that knowledge to effective use in a particular job. They are highly valued by employers both in the UK and overseas, and can also count towards membership of professional bodies and other employer organisations.

A HNC can take one year to complete full time and two years part time (distance learning is available). A HND can take two years to complete full time, with part time options available.
